No text, just pics! (I'm tired )
And a movie!

As you see, high stationary rpms... what to do?

Re: 32b TDI project!
This week my red coupe gets welding and painting. Here some cutting for fresh steel
GL doorcards, I got the window switches in the console... So I put plates in the door. Didn't know Passat had window swtiches in the door cards??
New rubber... what a job...
Working on the rollo. How do you guys install 'good' speakers here? mine don't fit (yet..)
Console, no ashtray anymore, so I will put my radio there
A lot of space, together with this original (321 number) DIN-box
About the RPM-problem... You can adjust your meter through the little hole! (pullies are different between TD and TDI!)
Now it's okay! (RPM in cluster and on computer screen )
Back
Nose
Maybe a good wash next time!

I'M JEALOUS! I want mine. Even without TDI.
Are those A3 rims? With 5/100 bolting?

Re: 32b TDI project!
Yup, A3 rims redrilled to 4x100
Got them for 100e, previos owner had them under a 110ps Ibiza tdi (afn) for two years. No cracks or any damage visible, so I trust them

Re: 32b TDI project!
Hi,
nice project, you did things im dreaming of....
Thanks for the info that the Audi transmission stuff dosn´t fit p´np, so I think I´ll put either a 1Z or again an SB into the 32B but won´t waste my time in searching for an entire Audi to tranplant the gearbox
120-130 @3250 is not a high load, and the TDI´s timing map has a large range with late injection at low load, so you can make it more economical if you turn your pump to an injection start of 6-7° before TDC at idle speed (mine I´ve set to 10° for veggie oil). The EGR you killed already as I could see .
Don´t exceed oil change interval. The TDIs die on broken timing belts, stuck piston rings because of old oil or burned pistons becasue of used injectors. If you care for these items, you could have fun for a long time with your TDI.
Have good time with your Passat.
Uli

122km/h is for the 3M, with the 2N you will have 128 @3250 rpm. The engine doesn´t care for this speed. The 1Z/AFN is good for highway driving at any speed. I have a daily track of 2x65km highway which I do with a Golf3 with AFN. It runs fine even at 4500 rpm and tolerates such treatments without any problems. Not to compare with the old precombustion chamber engines that overheat after 5 minutes @ full speed.Zollie hat geschrieben:but is it good for the engine??
2N -> 3250 rpm = 122 kmph
Golf TDI -> 3250 rpm = 163 kmph

Re: 32b TDI project!
Hmmm... Okay, the engine will survive the 2N gearbox, but I think it's more relaxing to travel at 2500~3000 rpm than 3250~4000 rpm... So a heavier transmission would be nice.
I have already found a 2V gearbox, and had a 3M myself. When I put the gears of the 2V on the final drive from the 3M, I would have a very nice gearbox!! My manual has exact the same instructions for both gearboxes, so it should work
It's not the high load, it's the average piston speed I am concerned about. In a TDI that's about (95.5/86.4)= 1.105 times higher than a D/TD (with same gearbox). The engine will wear about 10% faster. Plus, with this kind of power in a 32b I think I will be using it more often, so more speed, more rpm's (more wear!)
